Chelsea Kelland, Ph.D.

Dr. Chelsea Kelland, a native of New Orleans, is a scientist, educator, and organizational leader whose work bridges biomedical research, community service, and professional consulting. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of California, Davis, where her research in immunology is complemented by her role as Student Scholar Liaison for the UC Davis MIND Institute’s GAP Program, supporting underrepresented students in navigating academic and research careers.
In addition to her scientific pursuits, Dr. Kelland is a Senior Partner at Joshua T. Smith Consulting, where she advises businesses on building sustainable organizational structures, creating effective communication strategies, and implementing standard operating procedures. She also serves as a Board Member of the Paz Foundation, bringing her expertise in mentorship, education, and organizational strategy to drive the Foundation’s mission forward.
Dr. Kelland earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana and her Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of California, Davis. Her training and professional experiences reflect a unique ability to combine research excellence with administrative leadership and community engagement.
Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Dr. Kelland is the President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Psi Zeta Chapter, where she leads initiatives that promote service, scholarship, sisterhood, and finer womanhood within the community. She is also deeply committed to mentoring minority students and supporting the next generation of scientists in their educational and professional journeys.
Outside of her work and service, Dr. Kelland enjoys solving jigsaw puzzles and pursuing her fitness goals at the gym.
